Case

A beautifully proportioned birds eye burr ash Biedermeier Viennese Regulator wall clock by Pollateck of Pesten ( Budapest), circa 1850.

The finest quality birds eye burr ash case with a shaped and step moulded top surmounted with the original scrolled carved pediment.

The shaped and glazed door flanked with excellent quality applied matching carvings and the finest quality burled veneers, glazed sides with boxwood stringing around the apertures.

The case interior veneered with the beautifully figured burled ash wood.

The moulded and shaped base terminating with the original carved base decoration.

The original lock to the door.

Dial

The one piece enamelled dial with blue Roman numerals and signed to the centre Pollateck Pesten, surrounded by a finely cast brass pie crust bezel.

Movement

The fully restored, 8 day duration, Grande Sonnerie three train movement of the highest quality, striking on two blued steel curled gongs, with maintaining power and deadbeat escapement.

Strike silent facility.

Weight & Pendulum

Three polished brass cased weights, with ornate spoked pulleys, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with ebonised wooden rod.

Hands

Finely fretted blued steel hands of the highest qualtity.

Original brass handled winding key.


An exceptional clock of elegant proportions and beautiful use of the finest veneers, complemented by a superb movement.

The clock
in fine original condition with the movement fully restored and has an excellent patinantion and colour.

This type of Viennese regulator wall clock were entirely hand made by a time served master clockmaker and were only made for the most discerning customers and took many months to complete individually.

All of our clocks have been sympathetically restored and have been expertly vetted for originality and good working order. All clocks purchased from us are guaranteed for two years. All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.

Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
