Case
The high quality oak case veneered with faux red tortoiseshell, with ebonised mouldings.
The finely cast gilded caryatids mounts to the corners, with cast brass silk lined fishscale frets to the case sides with substantial gilded brass carrying handles above.
The case standing on four gilded scrolled feet.
The brass bound opening glazed front door with the original escutcheon and lock.
The elegant pagoda style top surmounted with five original gilded pineapple finials.
Silk lined sound fret to the rear door which also has the original lock.
Dial
The arched brass dial with a finely matted centre, surrounded by beautifully cast and gilded spandrels.
A silvered and engraved roman chapter ring, with silvered subsidiary zones for chime / chime silent and tune selector.
Movement
The fully restored chain driven triple fusee movement of eight day duration is of the highest quality manufacture, most probably made by Elliot of London.
The substantial movement plates united by 5 knopped pillars having the original anchor escapement.
The movement is of the finest quality with no expense spared in manufacture, having the unusual feature of a fully engraved back plate, only seen on the very best clocks of this period.
The clock chimes the quarter hours on 9 graduated bells giving a choice of eight bell chimes or Cambridge chimes, with the hours being struck on a larger tenth bell.
The engraved brass bob pendulum, with London style rating adjustment and knurled thumbscrew pendulum restraint.
