A very high quality late Victorian grandmother clock, with a superior quality spring driven Westminster quarter chiming movement by R. M. Schneckenburger of Germany, c.1890.
Case
The beautifully proportioned small mahogany case of excellent colour and patination.
The Chippendale style flame mahogany case with a carved mahogany swan neck pediment, glazed arched shaped door flanked by finely reeded pilasters above a carved tear drop decorated frieze.
The beautifully figured mahogany triple pointed trunk door, flanked by reeded quarter pilasters above a figured mahogany base raised on ogee bracket feet.
The sides of the case are also veneered in beautifully figured flame mahogany.
The case is made to a very high standard using the very best materials and is in excellent original condition.
Dial
The arched brass dial with gilded brass spandrels and a finely matted dial centre.
The circular silvered and engraved Roman numeral chapter ring with gilded half hour markings and silvered subsidiary zones for the rise and fall mechanism and chime silent facility.
A very substantial and well executed dial of the highest quality.
Movement
The fully restored high quality eight day duration triple train spring driven movement, Westminster striking the quarter hours on four curled blued steel gongs and striking the hours on a larger fifth blued steel curled gong.
Rise and fall mechanism for time keeping adjustment and chime silent facility.

Maker
The firm Rup. Amann Fabrik für Federzug- & Gewicht-Regulateure, of Mülhheim [on the] Donau, in Württemberg, founded in 1867, was sold in 1882 to Reinhold Schnekenburger.
It continued as R. Schnekenburger GmbH a.d. Donau — with the rose with the RSM as a trademark. Then amid financial problems, what by 1900 had become the Uhrenfabrik Mühlheim vorm.
R. Schnekenburger was taken over by a creditor, Albert Müller. And on 10 September 1900 and became the ”Uhrenfabrik Mühlheim, Müller & Co.”
