A good quality oak 30 hour longcase clock by Joseph
Hallifax of Barnsley, circa 1750.
The slender proportioned case constructed of finely
figured quarter sawn oak, crossbanded with pollard oak.
The caddy topped hood with attached turned columns
terminating with gilded wooden capitals beneath. The box
base surmounted on shaped bracket feet.
The square brass dial with finely matted centre and
ringed decoration, with silvered Roman chapter ring and
date zone, surrounded by cast spandrels, signed Joseph
Hallifax Barnsley.
The dial is in untouched patinated condition
The fine quality fully restored movement of 30 hour
duration united by four
knopped pillars, with anchor escapement and striking the
hours on a single bell.
Fretted blued steel hands.
