proportions with a break arch hood surmounted with
the original cast brass finials and decorative moulding
beneath. The hood door flanked by turned and reeded
columns terminating with cast brass Corinthian capitals.
The figured flame mahogany trunk door above the paneled
base, all set on four ogee bracket feet.
The original steel locks to both the hood and trunk door.
The beautifully executed arched japanned dial of “Wilson” manufacture, with Roman numeral chapter ring and outer Arabic numeral markings, with subsidiary seconds dial and date zone. A finely manufactured japanned decorated dial with painted raised gilt gesso and flower corner spandrels, signed to the arch Jno Startudge Cows.
The fully restored fine quality eight day duration movement, united by five knopped pillars and rack striking the hours on a single bell.
