A fine quality unusual Scottish ebonised 8 day
bracket clock with the original anchor escapement,
by John Ross of Inveraray.
The well proportioned ebonised bell top
case surmounted with four brass pineapple finials and
brass carrying handle. Beneath the arched glazed door with
moulded corners and inset to the front with cast brass
frets, glazed movement viewing windows to the case sides,
standing on a raised plinth and resting on four cast brass
ogee bracket feet.
The glazed door with brass edge moulding and the original
locks to both front and rear door.
The unusual 7" brass arched dial with
silvered and engraved Roman chapter ring surrounding a
finely matted center with ringed calendar aperture above
an arched silvered Strike/Silent dial signed John Ross
Inveraray.
The fully restored fine quality
substantial double fusee eight day movement with the original
anchor escapement striking the hours on a single
bell.
The escapement is unusual being a half
deadbeat escapement.
Strike / strike silent facility.
The high quality brass bob pendulum,
with steel strap and knurled hold fast restraint.
The plates united by 5 large knopped
pillars.
