Regulator Clocks

The antique Regulator Clock was developed due to the need for an extremely accurate standard timekeeper by which other clocks could be set. Regulators were used in Observatories, large country houses, clock workshops and retailers premises.

The early English floor standing Regulators or longcase Regulator clock closely resembles a longcase clock but typically in a much plainer style.

The dial of a Regulator Clock has separate indications for seconds, minutes and hours.

Refinements to the movements included maintaining power, a spring device to keep the clock going whilst winding, jewelled movements, deadbeat escapement and sophisticated compensated pendulums.

Story Clocks are specialists in high quality Regulator Clocks which are expertly restored, delivered and installed with a two year mechanical guarantee.
