FJ & RD Story Antique Clocks
FJ and RD Story are specialist dealers in fine antique clocks, established in 1990 to provide expertly restored antique clocks with a full authenticity and movement guarantee. From bracket clocks and longcase clocks, through to marine chronometers, mantel clocks, regulator and wall clocks, all of our antique clocks have been carefully chosen for their originality, decorative appeal and overall quality.
Frederick Story began collecting antique clocks in 1958 when he purchased and restored his first longcase clock, this was the start of a life long passion for antique clocks. With his vast knowledge and expertise in the field of antique clocks the business of FJ and RD Story Antique Clocks was formed in 1990 when he was joined by his nephew Richard Story.
For 35 years we have supplied clocks to private collectors and antique dealers from our premises in Yorkshire and at leading antique fairs throughout the UK.
The business is owned by Richard Story, who has a wealth of experience and expertise for all aspects of antiquarian horology.
Richard Story prides himself on providing a friendly and personal service to his customers, working closely with them to ensure that their exact needs are met. If there is a specific clock on this website that you would like to purchase, or simply want more information about, please get in touch.
The Restoration Team
All of our clocks have been restored by a highly skilled and experienced team of antiquarian horologists, cabinet makers and dial artists working to the highest possible standards. All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist, who is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 50 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
Movement Restoration
The repair and restoration of all our clocks take place in our horological workshops which are fully equipped with traditional hand tools and precision Swiss made machinery. Every clock we sell is dismantled into its individual parts and thoroughly hand cleaned and meticulously inspected for wear. Where necessary replacement parts are manufactured and any repair work which is required is carried out. The restoration work we undertake is sympathetically carried out to a very high standard. The clock is then reassembled, lubricated and fitted with new lines and suspension spring. Each clock is fully tested and adjusted over a 3 week period for timekeeping, strike work and date work function, before becoming available for sale on our website. All of our antique clocks are mechanically guaranteed in writing for two years and are genuine examples restored to the highest standard.
Delivery of our Clocks
Delivery and installation of our antique clocks is included in the price for all UK mainland deliveries. All antique clocks are carefully delivered and fully commissioned by ourselves. For overseas customers a fully insured shipment can be organised direct to your door for most locations in the world.
