Case

A fine quality rosewood Biedermeier Viennese Regulator wall clock, circa 1855.
The five light case design with an arched top surmounted with a wonderfully carved ebonised pediment with matching carvings to the glazed door sides and base.
The beautifully proportioned case inlaid throughout with contrasting boxwood stringing.

Dial

The two piece enamelled dial with Roman numerals, surrounded by an ornate gilded cast pie crust brass bezel.

Movement

The fine quality eight day duration Grande Sonnerie triple train movement of the highest quality striking on two blued steel curled gongs, with deadbeat escapement.

Weight & Pendulum

Polished brass cased weights, with ornate spoked pulleys, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with ebonised wooden rod.

Hands

Finely fretted blued steel hands.

A beautifully made clock of elegant and restrained proportions typical of the Biedermeier period, in fine original condition.
This type of Viennese regulator wall clock were entirely hand made by a time served master clockmaker and were only made for the most discerning customers and took many months to complete individually.

All of our clocks have been sympathetically restored and have been expertly vetted for originality and good working order. All clocks purchased from us are guaranteed for twelve months. All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.
