The small proportioned oak case with flat top hood, greek
key moulding beneath with mahogany frieze, the hood door
flanked by mahogany reeded columns.
The long quarter sawn oak figured trunk door flanked by
mahogany reeded quarter columns to the sides. The panelled
base set on the original bracket feet.
The square japanned dial of “Thomas Osborne” manufacture,
with Roman numeral chapter ring and outer Arabic numeral
markings, with subsidiary seconds dial and revolving date
zone.
The dial decorated with finely painted roses and wild
strawberry corner spandrels, the centre painted with
flowers and signed Chas Rowbotham Leicester.
A fully restored fine quality eight day, four pillar movement, rack striking the hours on a single bell.
Finely fretted blued steel hands of serpentine design.
Original cast iron weights, steel strap pendulum with
brass bob.
