Case

The high quality case veneered in beautifully figured flame mahogany, inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing . The classic Glasgow style case having a flat topped hood with dentil moulding and fluted free standing columns. Blind fret work to the front and sides of the hood with silked lined sound frets to the sides. The boxwood strung trunk door with choice curled mahogany veneers, flanked by quarter turned reeded columns. The box base surmounted on bracket feet.

Dial

The arched white dial with beautifully painted flowers to the corners and revolving moonphases to the arch, depicting a sailing ship scene, rural scene and moons, signed to the centre Will Mitchell Glasgow, with subsidiary seconds and calendar zones.

Movement

The good quality movement of eight day duration united by four knopped pillars, with anchor escapement and striking the hours on a single bell.

Weights and pendulum

Original Scottish oval cast iron weights and brass faced bob pendulum.

Hands

Fine quality blued steel hands of diamond design.
