A fine quality flame mahogany 8 day
domestic regulator longcase clock by James Macfarlane of
Edinburgh, circa 1865.
The beautifully proportioned
mahogany veneered case of typical Edinburgh architectural
top design. The beveled edged glass trunk door with the
original mirrored back to the interior highlighting the
weights and pendulum. The figured box base with a skirted
plinth. The architectural hood with locking glazed door.
The original brass locks and brass
hinges to the trunk and hood doors.
A very fine clock case of small size
with excellent colour and patination.
The circular silvered brass dial
finely engraved with bold Roman numerals and an outer
minute circle.
Subsidiary seconds zone to the dial
centre, signed James Macfarlane Edinburgh and dated 1865
The high quality movement is of eight day duration, the
plates united by four knopped pillars, deadbeat
escapement, Harrison's maintaining power and striking the
hours on a single bell.
Shaped bell hammer, high count pinions and finely spoked
wheel work.
The movement is fully restored by our horologist who
