A good quality 30 hour longcase clock by Thomas Crawshaw
of Rotherham, circa 1770.
The case constructed of figured quarter sawn oak, having a
caddy topped hood with turned columns terminating with
gilded wooden capitals beneath.
The mahogany crossbanded long trunk door with shaped top
and the original escutcheon and steel lock. The box base
surmounted on shaped bracket feet.
The square brass dial with engraved centre and silvered
Roman chapter ring surrounded
by finely cast spandrels. signed to the centre Crawshaw
Rotherham.
Subsidiary mouth type calendar zone to the lower dial
centre.
The fine quality fully restored movement of 30 hour
duration united by four
knopped pillars, with anchor escapement and striking the
hours on a single bell.
Finely fretted blued steel hands.
