Overview

A fine quality small sized rosewood mantel clock by Hanson of London.   

Case

The small sized case veneered in beautifully figured and carved rosewood. The triple pointed shaped door flanked by raised carved fan decoration. The stepped and carved top surmounted by a turned finial. The sides with brass bound glazed viewing windows and the rear with glazed door, original locks and keys to front and rear door. The case has a wonderful colour and finish, with good patination.

Dial

The shaped silvered brass dial with engraved Roman numerals and chapter ring, signed Hanson, 260 High Holborn, London to the arch, bound with a cast brass sighting mask.

Movement

The fully restored high quality single fusee movement of eight day duration, united by knopped pillars, with the original anchor escapement. Heavy brass bob pendulum, with London style rating adjustment and knurled thumbscrew pendulum restraint.
